Product Introduction

Since 1999, RetroPlate polishing system have been transforming the new or old concrete floors into harder, durable and glossy floor.

Employing new and expert techniques, we can prepare the concrete surface to achieve that glossy, mirror-like shine floors in both aesthetically pleasing and highly durable function.  RetroPlate also provide Environmental Friendly floor options and Green product.

RetroPlate polishing system is different from Ashford Formula sealer densifier hardener which gets brighter with use. RetroPlate’s characteristic is long-lasting shine!

RetroPlate is a product that takes the performance of Ashford Formula to a higher level. Its sealing, abrasion resistance, dustproofs and other characteristics are better than Ashford Formula. Moreover, RetroPlate can be used on the new concrete floor, and can also be used to renovate floors and seal the pores that have enlarged after grinding!

Product Introduction

The Ashford Formula is the original concrete densifier that chemically reacts with concrete to permanently densify, harden and strengthen the surface. This chemical reaction creates a dense, abrasion-resistant surface that can withstand the abuse of heavy machinery and equipment traffic, and ensures a durable concrete floor that is durable for a lifetime. No other concrete densifier has floors that are still in use after 75 years.

Concrete densification involves a chemical reaction between the densifier and calcium hydroxide in the concrete, producing calcium silicate hydrate. This compound fills the concrete pores, making the concrete denser, less permeable, and more resistant to moisture and chemical penetration. The Ashford Formula’s unique formulation ensures long-lasting protection for high-traffic and industrial environments.

The Ashford Formula is a concrete densifier that effectively locks in salts that cause dusting, not only keeping floors clean, but preventing dust from settling on finished goods and machinery, while significantly reducing maintenance costs.

Patented Technology

A concrete densifier is a chemical hardener that penetrates the concrete surface, reacting with the material to form crystals that fill the pores and increase surface density. This process significantly improves the concrete’s resistance to wear, dusting, and chemical damage. The Ashford Formula has been the industry standard for decades, trusted by professionals worldwide.

Rather than coating the surface with temporary coatings that eventually wear with time and require repeated removal and re-installation, the Ashford Formula grows new crystals in the concrete permanently

These crystals fills in the natural pores and voids in the concrete and provides a dense, hard surface that is strong, resistant to wear, dustproof and easy to clean.  The concrete is densified internally and inorganically – for a lifetime.  There is nothing to wear off the surface, nor is there anything to replace.

s_step2

(New/old concrete) Spray the Ashford formula / RetroPlate with a watering can.

2
s_step3

Once a flood coat has been achieved, the material should be agitated with fine-bristled brooms to help it penetrate the surface of the concrete.

3
step4

The material should dwell on the surface for a minimum of 30 minutes and become gel-like or slippery.

4
step5

It is necessary to fog or mist the floor with water to keep the Ashford Formula/ Retroplate in a liquid state for the entire 30-minute period.

Ashford Formula & RetroPlate
FAQs

Is the Ashford Formula/ RetroPlate a coating?

No. The Ashford Formula/ RetroPlate is a chemically-reactive liquid hardener and densifier. It protects the surface of the concrete not by coating it, but by increasing the density and durability of the wearing surface. Once the Ashford Formula/ RetroPlate has penetrated the concrete and reacted with it, there is no Ashford/ RetroPlate left. What remains is a crystalline-densified version of the concrete that was there in the first place. There is no coating, film or membrane to scratch, wear, or peel.

For Ashford Formula

Not any more or less slippery than the surface to which the Ashford Formula is applied. Co-efficient of friction test results are available.

For RetroPlate

By closing off the pores at the surface, the floor does become slightly more slippery. However, the RetroPlate System can fall within OSHA and ADA recommendations for coefficient of friction.

No. The Ashford Formula/RetroPlate is an odorless and non-hazardous material. They contain no solvents or volatile organic compounds. The Ashford Formula/ RetroPlate is non-toxic, and produces no harmful fumes or vapors. The Ashford Formula/ RetroPlate is completely water-based and environmentally safe. Use of this product requires no breathing apparatus or protective clothing.

Two to three hours.

Yes, RetroPlate has been used on silver, gold, and platinum LEED projects!

The RetroPlate System is not recommended where strong acids will come in contact with the floor. However, these are generally very small portions of a facility and the remainder of the floor could be treated with RetroPlate.
